La literatura precolombina, como su propio nombre indica, hace referencia al conjunto de obras con valor literario producidas en América  antes de la llegada de Cristóbal Colón y de la subsiguiente conquista española.

En ese largo período de tiempo, que va desde el surgir de los primeros pueblos americanos hasta la mencionada conquista, existieron literaturas muy diferentes, cada una propia de una cultura o pueblo.
